Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Initial Assessment (NEW PRICES IN EFFECT Dec 1st, 2024! Old pricing is still in effect on booking platform - click book a virtual appt to see the rates)

60 MINUTES $180 •90 MINUTES $275 (this option includes a 30min treatment immediately after the 60min assessment - value of 295$)

The pelvic floor refers to a group of muscles that sit in the pelvic inlet, like a hammock, and serves five critical functions in the body. When there is injury or dysfunction to the pelvic floor or nearby structures, whether it is due to trauma, pregnancy, birth & delivery, menopause, pelvic or abdominal surgeries, cancer treatments, or falls, one can experience a number of problems such as pelvic girdle pain, incontinence, low back pain, sexual dysfunction, & pelvic organ prolapse just to name a few. New patients should start with a 60-minute or 90-minute Initial Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy Assessment where we will be addressing your concerns and goals for treatment, and providing some treatment and exercise prescription in this first session!

For those who are currently pregnant, congratulations on becoming a Mama-to-be! We have curated a program to support birthing people through education on how to prepare for birth and delivery, strategies for breathing control, pelvic floor coordination, strengthening, and lengthening exercises, labor and delivery positions that could be better options for you, and what can happen to the abdomen and pelvic floor post-partum. We will also be providing you with an individualized exercise program, that is progressed by trimester, to support wellness during pregnancy, delivery, and a speedy recovery post-partum. These exercises are also meant to prevent common (but NOT NORMAL) aches and/or symptoms during pregnancy and post-partum (ie. pelvic girdle pain, pubic symphysis pain, hip and low back pain, heaviness in the vulvar region, difficulty taking a deep breath, neck and shoulder tension from feeding and holding baby, and leakage). In the same way you would train consistently for a marathon, you want to do the same in preparation for birth and delivery! We are excited to meet you and we would be honoured to help you navigate through your pregnancy journey!

For those who have just had a baby, holy moly, you have a little human now! We want to hear about your birth and delivery experience (& pregnancy experience if you are a new client with us) to get a full picture of what could be contributing to your pelvic health concerns. The MOST COMMON concerns we see post-partum are uncontrolled urine leakage, pelvic organ prolapse, DRA, sustained pelvic girdle pain, pain with penetrative sex, and fear &/or confusion with return to exercise.

We've learned over the years that it is so important to look at the 'WHOLE' person when treating clients with pelvic health dysfunction. We believe that the title 'pelvic floor' physiotherapist is a complete misnomer!! Our profession is so much more than just a 'Kegel'- expert or pelvic floor muscle personal trainer! Although we have the training on how to properly assess and train your pelvic floor muscles... your symptoms are more likely as a result of a complex interplay of multiple systems in your body that are NOT working optimally as a team, rather than just simply a 'weak' or 'tight' pelvic floor. We are very methodical in treating the right systems first so that the body systems can come together as a well-oiled team; just like the Bulls in 93’. This is why we spend at least 30 minutes in the initial visit asking you questions about your peri-natal experience (if applicable), any trauma in your past sexual experiences, your perception of pain, your gut health, your bathroom habits, your diet, your complete medical history, and much much more!

*Virtual sessions do not include an internal assessment, however, one can be arranged in an in-clinic session; if deemed necessary and with your consent to do so post-pandemic.
