Jane Bai is unlike any physiotherapist I have ever been to. She is a caring, an attentive listener and a very thoughtful, engaged problem solver with a profound understanding of the body. I was referred to pelvic physiotherapy by a urogynecologist because of slow voiding and I am extremely grateful to Jane who is responsible for my significantly improved condition.

As a fitness professional, an athlete and having had two children, working with Jane has changed my life for the better. I started seeing her during my 2nd pregnancy and then postpartum. Throughout the process, Jane made me feel comfortable, shared her knowledge and supported me through the rehab process while I continued physical activities. I will continue to work with her and highly recommend her pelvic floor physiotherapy services.

My experience working with Jane has been nothing but positive. She is professional, knowledgeable, and always made me feel 100% at ease during what I previously imagined to be an awkward and uncomfortable interaction. She walked me through each and every step of the process by giving me both detailed explanations and visuals to help me understand how my body works, she also provided exceptional guidance for self-care and at-home exercises. Through her treatment, my condition quickly improved and was subsequently resolved, and I have since consulted her for various other physical conditions and injuries. I never hesitate to recommend Jane to my close friends seeking improvement and treatment for pelvic health, athletic injuries, and overall well-being!

I started seeing Jane a few years ago due to pelvic pain. My doctor had recommended that I consider pelvic health physiotherapy in order to strengthen my pelvic floor. I was unsure if this would be for me and frankly a bit nervous, but I saw Jane’s information at Step Up and decided to give it a try.

Jane is a fantastic physiotherapist. Not only did she immediately made me feel comfortable, she made sure that I understood what we were doing, what muscles we were targeting and their purposes, and why it was important to strengthen my pelvic floor. Jane is incredibly knowledgable in her field, and she is attuned to what you need and what the best treatment options are for your individual situation. As a plus size woman, some physiotherapy protocols are less intuitive to how my body moves, yet Jane was able to pinpoint and modify these exercises and protocols to ensure they matched my capabilities. I saw a lot of progress from seeing Jane, and I highly recommend her.

Jane helped me resolve a pelvic floor tension issue last winter. She was wonderful to work with, did not make the process intimidating or embarrassing, was factual in her approach and demonstrated a lot of concern for my wellbeing. She also ensured that I had all the information I needed to ensure ongoing and long-term resolution of my problem. I would recommend her to anyone who has pelvic floor issues.

I can go on a long road trip without packing a box of pads and stopping at every rest centre or gas station.

I am a woman in my seventies who had been experiencing increasing degrees of bladder incontinence since the birth of my children more than four decades ago. As things got worse, my physical activities became more limited - no running, jumping, energetic dancing - until it got to the point where I started wearing a pad to go to the corner store. I didn’t want to have an operation and wanted a natural remedy but didn’t know of any alternatives until I discovered pelvic health physiotherapy & Jane. In my research, I had learned that there is no one-fits-all treatment for incontinence and I needed the expertise from a professional to figure out the best treatment for me.
Jane has the expertise that has changed my life - I am increasingly living a more active life now without any leakage. I am even taking dance classes! I felt very comfortable with Jane as she has a down-to-earth and very positive approach in her treatment and what I learned from her, I can continue to use to keep my pelvic system functioning healthily and happily.

I started visiting Jane for pelvic floor sessions in the second trimester of my pregnancy. She is extremely professional and was able to address the lower back pains and incontinence I was experiencing as my pregnancy progressed. I was impressed that she was able to pinpoint the cause as new issues came up. I also really appreciated her honesty about realistic expectations. Just finished my last session with her before labour and will be back to see her for a check up after delivery.

After having 2 beautiful children and prior to working with Jane, I had seen a pelvic floor therapist who focused only on kegels, had seen 2 urologists (of which, one was a very bad experience), been prescribed medication to ‘curb’ urinary incontinence, and was going to the toilet every 20 mins to prevent accidents. I also stopped exercising and relied on pads to get me through the day!

In the very short time that I’ve been working with Jane (4 or so appointments), I have been educated better about my body, specifically on muscles that help support the pelvic floor and have been given exercises that help stretch and strengthen these, I also go the toilet every 2+ hours, and now lean in and listen to my body. Jane has been amazing and has guided me through exercises and techniques that have restored my faith and confidence. Her knowledge, expertise and more importantly, empathy leaves me feeling very well supported and understood! My goals for the very near future are to be back in the gym and to throw away the pads!

After giving birth to my son, I could barely walk and after waiting four weeks for the pain to go away, it didn’t. I did virtual physio with Jane and within two weeks I started walking like I used to, and with minimal pain. I can walk now without fear of falling or dropping my son. I highly recommend virtual physiotherapy with Jane!

I had never been to a physio before and was not sure how a virtual session was going to work. That being said, I really enjoyed the virtual physio sessions that I had with Jane and they were very effective! The virtual appointments fitted conveniently between work meetings, allowed me to use my own equipment and get feedback that I was doing the exercises correctly in my own home. Jane was very detailed and helpful, always showing me the steps first. I will look for virtual appointments whenever I can as it is so much more convenient and just as effective.

I only have good things to say about Jane! She is extremely knowledgeable and respectful. Jane was able to guide me through our sessions completely virtually while never sacrificing on the quality of the care she provided. My main concern was pain during intercourse, but Jane was able to help me with multiple pelvic floor related issues-many of which I didn’t realize were connected! I would recommend her to anyone who has pelvic health concerns.

I am currently in the third trimester of my first pregnancy. I remember mama friends telling me that the best thing I could do to prepare my body is to seek out a pelvic health physiotherapist. As a long-time client at Step-Up Massage and Rehab, I searched their directory and found Jane Bai. I am so, so glad I found her! I came to Jane hoping to get some “tips” on how to prepare my body for labour but left with much more. I learned valuable exercises/techniques to support my pelvic health. But she also helped me address ongoing issues including jaw pain, shoulder pain, and acid reflux that flared up during pregnancy (I now have a priceless trick to stop acid reflux in its tracks that has saved me from sleepless nights). I did not expect to get help in these areas from a pelvic floor specialist. The fact that I did is testament to Jane’s expertise and holistic approach to treatment. Working with her was a fun and rewarding experience. More importantly, you want someone you can trust when treating a sensitive and intimate area, and Jane made me feel comfortable and heard from the first session. If you’re wondering whether anything of substance can be done in virtual appointments - the answer is YES. I will be recommending Jane to all my mama friends. I look forward to working with Jane post-birth for strengthening and rehab.
